Narail District Branding

Narail District Branding:

The river Chitra is the main strength of the branding of Narail district due to its huge prospects in tourism. The Chitra is second to none among the small or big rivers of Bangladesh in terms of beauty it has to offer. The transparent water of the river runs smoothly and peacefully along its zigzag course surrounded by lush green foliage on an azure canvas. Beautiful trees line up both sides of the river. The Chitra looks like an enduring canvas of the artist. The political, social, cultural and natural heritage of Narail has evolved round the river. Famous personalities who grew up on the fertile land enriched by the Chitra are Birshreshtha Nur Mohammad Sheikh, world-famous artist S. M. Sultan, Jari singer Moslem Uddin, ballad poet Bijoy Sarkar, famous sitar player of the Sub-continent Rabi Sankar, dancer Uday Shanker, novelist Dr. Nihar Ranjan Gupta, composer Kamal Das Gupta, sports star of the cricketing world and honorable member of parliament from Narail-2 constituency Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. The Chitra is an integral part of the heritage of Narail.

Purpose:

  • To contribute in the development of the country.

Justification of selecting the Chitra as the Branding item

The Chitra has huge potentials in Narail. Both sides of the river are tree-lined and full of greenery. Narail town stands on the banks of the Chitra just like the Thames in London or the Seine in Paris and the Buriganga in Dhaka. If both sides of the river are beautified and water the fate of the Chitra can transform Narail.

The reasons for selecting the Chitra as the branding item are the following:

  • Tourist industries will flourish;
  • Infrastructural development will be ensured;
  • Employment opportunities will be created;
  • Preservation of biodiversity including fisheries will be ensured and
  • Development of S. M. Sultan Complex on the bank of the Chitra.
